Copilot
Copilot is a zero-config provider that uses your existing GitHub Copilot credentials. No API key is needed - Multi reads your authentication directly.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- GitHub Copilot subscription or free trial
- Sign in to GitHub in VS Code or your IDE
- Copilot extension installed in your editor
Enabling a Model
Section titled “Enabling a Model”Before using Copilot in Multi, you MUST use the model at least once directly in Copilot (in your IDE) and grant it the necessary permissions. Without this step, the model will not work in Multi.
Here’s what to do:
- Open your IDE (VS Code, etc.)
- Use Copilot and select the model you plan to use in Multi
- Complete at least one interaction with that model (for example say “hi”)
- When prompted, grant all necessary permissions to the model
- Once permissions are granted, the model will work in Multi
This is a one-time setup PER MODEL. After granting permissions, you can use that model freely in Multi.
Setup in Multi
Section titled “Setup in Multi”- Open the Multi panel → Settings (gear icon)
- Click Add Profile
- Select Copilot as the provider
- Choose a model
- Save
That’s it - no API key required.
Copilot usage through Multi is billed through your GitHub Copilot subscription. Check your GitHub billing for current pricing and usage.
