Installation

Multi is available as an extension for VS Code and compatible editors, and as a plugin for JetBrains IDEs. Installation takes less than a minute.

VS Code / Cursor / Windsurf / Kiro / Antigravity

  1. Open your editor
  2. Go to the Extensions panel (Ctrl+Shift+X / Cmd+Shift+X)
  3. Search for Multi
  4. Click Install

Or install directly from the VS Code Marketplace.

Multi supports IntelliJ IDEA, WebStorm, PyCharm, GoLand, PhpStorm, Rider, CLion, RubyMine, RustRover, Android Studio, and other JetBrains IDEs.

  1. Open your JetBrains IDE
  2. Go to SettingsPlugins (Ctrl+Alt+S / Cmd+,)
  3. Select the Marketplace tab
  4. Search for Multi
  5. Click Install and restart your IDE

Or install directly from the JetBrains Marketplace.

If you’re using an Open VSX-compatible editor:

  1. Visit the Open VSX listing
  2. Click Install

After installing:

  • VS Code and compatible editors: You should see the Multi icon Multi icon in your editor’s activity bar (sidebar). Click it to open the Multi panel.
  • JetBrains IDEs: You should see the Multi icon Multi icon in the right sidebar. Click it to open the Multi tool window.
  • OS: macOS, Windows, or Linux
  • Editor: VS Code 1.99+, JetBrains IDEs 2024.1+, Cursor, Windsurf, Kiro, or Antigravity
  • RAM: 4GB minimum (8GB+ recommended for optimal performance)
  • Disk Space: 2GB for the extension/plugin files, with additional space for task data and operational tools
  • Network: Internet connection required for API calls to model providers (except local providers like Ollama and LM Studio)
  • Others: Node.js 20+ (optional, Multi attempts to download if not found), ripgrep (optional, Multi attempts to download if not found)
