Gemini CLI

Gemini CLI is a zero-config provider that uses your existing Gemini CLI authentication. No API key is needed - Multi reads your authentication directly.

  1. Install Gemini CLI
  2. Authenticate
  1. Open the Multi panel → Settings (gear icon)
  2. Click Add Profile
  3. Select Google Gemini CLI as the provider
  4. Choose a model
  5. Save

No API key required - Multi uses your existing CLI credentials.

Multi reads your existing Gemini CLI credentials and automatically refreshes access when needed.

If your credentials are stored in a non-default location, you can specify the custom credentials path in profile settings.

If you need to use a specific Google Cloud project, you can set a custom project ID in profile settings.

Authenticate Gemini CLI, then retry.

The free tier has usage limits. If you hit rate limits, wait a few minutes and try again, or consider using the Google Gemini API provider with a paid API key for higher limits.

Gemini CLI usage through Multi can be used at no cost under eligible account tiers.
