Gemini CLI
Gemini CLI is a zero-config provider that uses your existing Gemini CLI authentication. No API key is needed - Multi reads your authentication directly.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- Install Gemini CLI
- Authenticate
Setup in Multi
Section titled “Setup in Multi”- Open the Multi panel → Settings (gear icon)
- Click Add Profile
- Select Google Gemini CLI as the provider
- Choose a model
- Save
No API key required - Multi uses your existing CLI credentials.
How Authentication Works
Section titled “How Authentication Works”Multi reads your existing Gemini CLI credentials and automatically refreshes access when needed.
Custom Credentials Path
Section titled “Custom Credentials Path”If your credentials are stored in a non-default location, you can specify the custom credentials path in profile settings.
Custom Project ID
Section titled “Custom Project ID”If you need to use a specific Google Cloud project, you can set a custom project ID in profile settings.
Troubleshooting

Rate Limits
Section titled “Rate Limits”The free tier has usage limits. If you hit rate limits, wait a few minutes and try again, or consider using the Google Gemini API provider with a paid API key for higher limits.
Gemini CLI usage through Multi can be used at no cost under eligible account tiers.
