Personas

Personas let you customize Multi’s identity and communication style. They affect how Multi expresses itself - not its capabilities or available tools.

Selecting a Persona

A persona is chosen when you start a task. It is a startup selector, not something you manage from a settings screen.

Selection options:

• None - Default communication style
• Default - Uses ~/.multi/SOUL.md
• Custom - One of your own personas stored in ~/.multi/soul/

Where Personas Live

Personas are plain Markdown files on disk: Custom personas live in ~/.multi/soul/<name>.md, where <name> is the persona’s name.

Adding a Persona

There is no in-app create, edit, or delete UI. To add a persona you have two options:

• Write the file yourself - Create a <name>.md file in ~/.multi/soul/ with the personality and communication style you want.
• Ask Multi Doctor (recommended) - Select the built-in Multi Doctor agent and ask it to write the persona for you. It knows the format and will place the file in the right location.
